Extended Vision is a response to a nation-wide call for art for a “house of mathematics.” Comprised of 100 anodyzed aluminum panels, the piece extends through three floors of the Cowles Mathematics building at the University of Utah. Extended Vision is the largest of Bliss’ site specific works. Her multifaceted visualization expresses the structural connections with the sciences, arts, and culture while suggesting the range and beauty of mathematics.
The panels are ordered in related clusters: Numbers and Measure includes Islamic concepts and geometric studies. Intersections, explores mathematics and nature, and ethnic and architectural design. Outer Space, includes the myth and theory of human exploration.
